Sporting Events

Some of the high profile events that ensure mass participation include Gold Coast Airport Marathon, Nikon Indy 300 Motorsports, Magic Millions Horse Racing event and Pan Pacific Master Games. Gold Coast Airport Marathon, an important event that takes place every year, features a series of marathon events. Runners of all ages participate in this event that includes a half marathon, a marathon, a 10-kilometer run, walking event and a junior dash. Pan Pacific Master Games, another high profile event, is conducted in November every year with participants from different parts of the world. The event includes plenty of sporting action from different games including cricket, baseball, archery, rugby, hockey, golf, swimming and soccer etc.

Nikon Indy 300 is a motor racing event that is considered as the largest motorsport in Australia. The racing event is a high profile event with more than 2.5 million television viewers from 200 plus countries. The event, which is conducted for about four days, is sponsored by “Nikon”. Magic Millions Horse Racing event is one of the world’s largest horse racing events with plenty of sales tie-ups in different countries. Horse racing and other related events will be conducted in March every year.

Surfing events are also conducted to portray the city’s exciting beach attractions and lifestyle. Quicksilver and Roxy Pro is one of the biggest surfing events in the world with plenty of action from experienced surfers. The event is conducted at Duranbah beach, which is located in the New South Wales border. Plenty of other surfing competitions and lifesaving surf competitions are also conducted in Gold Coast.

Other Events

Besides sporting and entertainment, other festivals and events are also conducted in different parts of Gold Coast. Though Christmas and New Year are the main festivals, all other festivals are also celebrated with the same spirit. Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow festival is an event in which the local people make scarecrows representing certain historical persons. Other popular events include the coffee festival, Blues on Broadbeach, Green Day Out and Jazz Festival etc.
