Gold Coast is home to plenty of sports stars including Grant Hackett, Nathan Corbett, Ky Hurst, and Emma Snowsill etc. These sport stars are multiple award winning champions with a plenty of medals to their honor.

    Grant Hackett – Freestyle Swimmer

    Grant Hackett, a swimmer born at Gold Coast’s Southport region, has won plenty of medals in the freestyle category. He is also regarded as one of the greatest freestyle swimmers in the history of the sport. Hackett, who has won gold medals at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, has also won a silver medal at the 1500m freestyle event in the recently concluded 2008 Beijing Olympics and a bronze medal at the 4 x 200m relay event in the same Beijing Olympics. His world championship record includes about 10 gold medals at different freestyle events. Hackett, who retired from swimming in 2008, is undoubtedly one of the greatest swimmers of all time.

    Nathan Corbett – Martial Artist

    Nathan Corbett is a professional martial artist with an impressive fighting record. Moreover, Nathan Corbett is the reigning Muay Thai champion in the cruiser weight category. Out of his 44 contests, Corbett has won about 41 matches and has lost just 2. Corbett has won plenty of championships including IMF championship, WMC Muay Thai championship and K-1 Scandinavia GP championship. His only ever knockout loss was to USA’s Alex Roberts. However, Corbett came back strong to win all of his bouts till now.

    Ky Hurst – Swimmer & Ironman

    Ky Hurst is a swimmer born in Queensland, Australia. Hurst practiced his swimming techniques in the coastal area of Queensland. He is also an Ironman (surf lifesaving), who has participated in a number of events.  Hurst has won about 4 major Australian titles in Ironman competitions. In 1998, Hurst earned his first swimming medal at the World Aquatics Championships in a 5km event.
