    Nerang is a suburb district in Gold Coast, Australia. It is located on the banks of River Nerang. Nerang is located at about 72 kms for Queenland’s capital city Brisbane. The Nerang community serves as a gateway to many farm houses, resorts and national parks located in the Hinterland region. Nerang is a fertile plantation region abundant in red cedar trees. Nerang is also well connected to other popular communities in Queensland. Due to its location on the river banks and coach route, Nerang is expected to develop into a big trade centre in the upcoming years.

    History

    The name Nerang, which means little, was originally awarded to the district by the native Aborigines lived in this area. Nerang community was established in the 1800s, when Nerang River served an important transport option for commercial purposes. It was considered as one of the oldest settlements in Australia. Following the development of coach services and rail routes, Nerang evolved into a full fledged business community with plenty of natural resources. In addition to cedar trees, Sugar and Maize were also cultivated in the Nerang region.

    Famous Locations

    Nerang Forest Reserve is an important location in the Nerang Community. The forest reserve, which is located at about 12 kms from Surfers Paradise, is home to various birds and plant species. Visitors with good physical fitness can enjoy mountain bike trails for up to 20 kms into the forest. Nerang is well connected through rail routes and coastal bus services. Visitors can also enjoy boating, fishing and other leisure activities. Nerang also has a good accommodation facility with plenty of hotels featuring various amenities. Nerang Township is now considered as a one of the popular trade hubs in Gold Coast.

    Nerang River is one of the notable attractions in Nerang community. The river originates from the Hinterland region and flows through the Gold Coast City. Hinze is the name of a dam constructed across the Nerang River. The dam serves as a main source of water supply for the surrounding area.
